East Challow Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
The site is managed using the IONOS MyWebSite content management system. Some elements of the website design coding are not available for user customisation in this system.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
It is not possible to modify the line height or spacing of text.
It is not possible to change the fonts or colours used.
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. We have tried where possible to add alternative text to describe pictures on this website, that can be read with a screen reader.
When we publish new content we will endeavor to use images to meet accessibility standards.
Disproportionate burden
Some archive documentation is not in fully screen reader compatible format.
Some documents referring third party services is in the form of scanned images
Navigation and accessing information
There’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option).
Interactive tools and transactions
The cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with interactive tools and transactions has been assessed. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We are working on making our website more accessibility compliant and have budgeted for this work within the 2026/2027 budget.
Many of our older PDF documents may not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be structured so they’re accessible to a screen reader. The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. However, if there is a particular document you need converting, please let us know and, if at all possible, we will update it.
Any new PDFs we publish we will attempt to meet accessibility standards.
We will be happy to provide any documents in Word on request.
This statement was adopted by the Parish Council on 14th January 2026 and will be reviewed in one year or sooner should circumstance or legislation dictate.
